This was perfect for me as a beginner!!!!
Excellent video. Thank you
My 12 pc set was remarkably awful. there were two in the set that didn't require a total re-profiling.
I absolutely love your beautiful dog relief . ❤
Clear and helpful video, thanks
Your delivery reminds me of Joe Pesci. I don't know whether you are aware of it or not. But again i am almost certain that you do:)
Very informative video although your prices for sharpening knives are very low.
What type of wood is this? What tool did you use to create the first rough shape ?
Awesome video !! A Diamond in the ruff. Thank u for sharing with us.
This man needs to be charging at least $8 per blade! He is has a wealth of experience and knowledge
Thank you for your great videos!

You are awesome one of the best videos Iv seen on teaching for sharpening tools. ! Just wow Tu sir
what a great instructor you are... thank you for walking me through this...I'm new to relief carving... have done clay sculpting in past but you really helped me with how to make sure I don't cut too deep with my layers
I learned a lot about carving a flat piece and the texturing.
Thats a drywall hammer.
I have been using windex glass cleaner for my diamond stone. I’ll try the oil
I really enjoyed watching this tutorial. Simple and straight forward. Very well done! Thank you.
Tom was my first guitar teacher when I was 9. I’ve always wanted to thank him for getting me to sing! I went on to a life in music, writing, performing, touring etc. I’ve had a music school for the last 3 decades - helping to spread the music! Thank you, Tom. Great to see these clips. Would love to know if he plays anywhere anytime!
the best video that I've seen on this topic - thank you
Excellent discussions. I wish I found this 6 months ago. Subscribing for sure!
Thank you for this, sir.

I’d be interested to know what that block of marble stock costs. Nice job Sir!
Retail price of Colorado marble, here in the Midwest, can run as high as $4 USD per pound. If you order a ready-cut block, that is in stock, from the quarry, with shipping the cost can be almost as low as 1$ USD per pound. One cubic foot of stone, almost any stone including Marble, is 170 pounds. If I can use the blocks I cut off, I do not include their weight in the price of material. This block, cut and ready to carve, was about 1200 pounds. My wholesale cost would be about $1500. I would charge close to the retail price, for material, about $4000 USD. Labor is additional.
@@joedillett Thanks for such a comprehensive answer.
Simple and nice piece of art,,,
Many thanks! Great video!
I bought some Schaaf chisels earlier this year at the recommendation of a woodcarving site. Mine are terrible! Do NOT buy them. They look like the people who make them do not care and only know how to make a chisel-like tool. The tang on more than a few were not set into the handle straight and many of the edges are malformed and uneven. Even with sharpening and honing they did not perform well at all. Save your money no buying something better.
Hallo❤
Hi, how are you?@@Karanyanz-qr8mn
I’m getting a lot of wobble using the threaded rod. Do you have a technique to get the rod straightened, or just a matter of finding the best rod. Thanks for this. I bought a set of Schaaf tools and they did need sharpening, especially the V-tools, I must have ground about a 1/2” of steel off the tool before watching your video. Made the system and once set up the V-tool was razor sharp in a few minutes.
I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.
آفرین عالی بود🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for making this video. You did a really good job. I just bought one of these today at a garage sale for $20. It also came with the lathe. I’m very excited.
Thank you, great work
Didn't have a dial so I just used a tie strap on the trigger pulled in 1/4 of the way nice steady slow speed....😊
Two dollars per sharpening!? That is dirt cheap! You could charge $5 per sharpening and people would gladly pay it.
🤔
hermosa le quedó perfecta 🤗
So happy to see your beautiful carving again Joe! God bless you and your wife.
hello i think for the knife take long time you need grit 120- 180- 400 and finally sropping with paffing compound
Love it. I’m very much enjoying these it really helps me understands more about craving. I’ve been craving for over a year now
Great video
Excellent info and demonstration. Very clear and very helpful! Now I know what I’ve been doing wrong and how to correct the problem! Thanks!
You are my great teacher in this business. Thank you so much.
Hope you are doing allright Joe! It's been a while since your last video. Would be great to hear all is well.
Hope you don't worship it.

When I was in the Corps I wanted one of one, but I couldn’t afford one till later in life. Best versatile vise I’ve ever owned.
I picked up one of these secondhand today, only just started playing with it and I'm amazed by how versatile it is.. I thought it best to come find some demonstration videos on UA-cam to see what else I'm missing. Thanks for pointing out the drill clamp, I was a little confused as to what that part was (no user manual with this one). The irony of finding THIS video first however, is that I myself am actually physically disabled. My left arm has been paralyzed since a motorbike accident back in 2007. So, yes.. I can vouch for the fact that it is indeed very easy to use with one hand. :)
Hi I would like to thank sincerely for kindly sharing your valuable experience with all the people I have seen other videos on the topic but this one is by far the best of all at least in my humble opinion I wanted to buy a table grinder but i have never felt comfortable with the 3000 or more rpm I understand now that even a cheaper drill can be used without a negative impact on the final result I have to make one wooden support asap I will ask a friend who owns the needed machinery Thanks again and Kindest regards Gino
I really appreciate the video, sir. Great information and well presented. Thank you.
Love your work. This is what I hope to accomplish and if I can learn and be 1/4 as good that will be great. I am a newbie and 69 so hope I can do some good works while I can. Really enjoy watching your videos.
